Watching about six million cubic feet of water fall a minute is quite the awe-inducing experience.
In other words, I went to Niagara Falls for the first time this past weekend.
My friend from Guelph came with me, and we made a day of it, heading there on Saturday. I even went on the boat ride. It’s pretty incredible. We made sure to wait until it got dark so we could see the lights as well.

I’d go on, but words don’t really do the falls justice.
The tourist district that has sprung up around the falls is incredible for different reasons. It reminds me of nothing so much as Las Vegas. Well, Las Vegas with a lot of mini golf courses.

Yesterday was mostly a driving day. I dropped my friend back off in Guelph and then drove to the outskirts of Ottawa (listening to the tornado warnings on my radio, hurray!). I spent some time contemplating population.
Southern Ontario is the most populated place I have ever seen in Canada. That’s because, of course, it is the most populated place in Canada. A quick web search tells me it holds about a third of the country’s population. It’s quite astonishing. I think of the Metro Vancouver area as populated, but it’s only got a few million people, positively puny in comparison.
A bit of a shift after driving through the long stretches of this country that are either farmland or wild.

Today was also a driving day, I am now in Quebec City. Since I have had the opportunity to visit here a couple times before when I lived in Montreal, I mostly just spent the evening wandering through the old city, soaking in the ambiance.
Tomorrow, I am New Brunswick bound for the first time ever. Lots of firsts this trip.
